As a practicing pharmacist, I get the pleasure of treating the sick with all the technology our modern medical minds provide. In my brief career I’ve found that many of my patrons suffer from diseases (i.e. hypertension, depression, diabetes) that are quite preventable with superior health and fitness. I have also found that many of those sick have been convinced that this superior practice of exercise and healthy diet is beyond their reach. Either by society, friends, family, and/or physician, these folks have given up their natural ability to control their future and resign to treating the problem with pills instead of curing their diseases. My dream is a society without hypertension, without heart disease, and without diabetes. Unfortunately after 6 years of school, a doctorate degree, and over a decade in the medical field I feel that the answer is not in treating the disease after it has already developed, rather preventing it with the kind of lifestyle only CrossFit can provide.
I pray that I can touch more lives as a CrossFit trainer than ever imagined as a pharmacist. As a society, we must face the hard truth that elongating a life by purely covering up the problem with a pill is wrong. To those that the good Lord has given the ability to maintain their health comes a responsibility to not only avoid becoming sick with the diseases naturally collected by Americans over their life, but also to be an example to their communities of what the right way looks like. Join me in our practice of curing disease with fitness, so that we may help our fellow women and men avoid sickness.
