Pursuit

The NCAA brackets are about to be released for March Madness. Every team on the road to the championship will end in defeat: Except one.

Yet year after year the struggle continues.

The CrossFit Games is a lot like that. Out of more than 100,000 athletes, only one will be crowned champion in July. The odds of YOU being that one aren’t good. So why should you work so hard, day in and day out, chasing the near impossible dream?

Because its not about the win; it’s about the pursuit of the win.

It’s in the pursuit that makes us perfect our skills. Even the ones we’re already good at. One double-under better than yesterday is still better.

It’s the pursuit that makes us return to the gym day in and day out. We live sore, we survive tired, we even smile while sweaty because we see the reward.

It’s the pursuit that pushes us to that new PR, and what keeps us trying after a hundred missed attempts.

It’s in the pursuit that keeps us living intentionally everywhere else. We’re finally able to control our food, our sleep, our downtime.

It’s the pursuit that drives us to watch five videos on burpee technique so we get one more rep with our friends around cheering.

It’s in the pursuit that motivates us to surround ourselves with like-minded people. Especially the ones who are better than we are. We know they makes us better.

It’s in the pursuit that we realize we are more capable than we ever dared to dream.

It’s not about winning. It’s about the desire to win, and what we discover along the way when we pursue it with everything we have.

    Well put Mindy!
If nothing else it’s the competition we have with ourselves to see how we improve from day to day. It may be a gradual improvement that you don’t notice until a month or two from now but when it does surface you know your pursuit is all worth it.
