How to prevent Alzheimer’s

Mar 10, 2013 21 Comments by

I’ve discovered the cause of Alzheimer’s. Chronic conversations with idiots.

It’s one meaningless complaint after another, compounded, until our brain finally gives up and says “that’s it, I just can’t listen anymore. Since you won’t leave, I will.”

Maybe we should define idiot. Anyone who will selfishly steal the time of another to complain, gossip, condemn, or just generally speak while forgetting how truly lucky they are: Idiot.

Can’t you feel it? The mental suicide you’re committing by standing there smiling and nodding your head, acting nice and tolerable – fake. When a conversation makes you hold your breath just before it happens. When you have to say, “I guess that wasn’t so bad,” when it’s over, it’s more than annoying. It’s expensive. A price we pay with our sanity.

It really is cute that you fancy yourself approachable and caring. I’m sure you’ll be a 45-year-old hit at the nursing home. But you’re already confused if you think you’re helping some people. Allowing mind numbing justifications to go on right in front of you has never helped anyone in the history of the world.

Alzheimer’s is the natural human defense against a world of douche bags. It’s death before dying and it starts by entertaining people we should be walking away from.

It’s trading endearing interactions for obnoxious situations. It’s two people telling lies to one another. One thinks what they have to say actually matters, while the other lies by just standing there, listening.

Stop lying. Start living.

wow somebody has a burr up their ass…here’s another sign of being an idiot…when a trainer is not fully invested in each and every one of their atheletes, not being emotionally invested in them, not truly “listening”, pretending to be approachable and caring is better than the alternative….complete 100% douchebag. How about turning this post around, lets have a little postive energy…Have a good week everybody, lets be nice to each other and genuinely care about our fellow cfers…everybody smashed 13.1 whether they signed up for the open or not. Lets have another great time on Friday for 13.2. Peace out.

Last Thursday, I asked the 530p class if they were scared of 13.1. I was specific in the emotional adjective I chose. Three athletes raised their hands. My question was, “why?” Anxious, nervous, a bit uncertain, ok, but not scared. Not this year. Not after all the progress PCF-ers have made w Oly lifts since the snatch ladder of Open 2012.

If you haven’t, check out the pics from Fri eve on FB. This cool one of Melissa Fisher is only one example of some of the strong lifts captured as proof of progress. Wow wow wow.

    5am Good Job!!
Nikki Jones is squatting 95lbs for reps. Alright! AND jumping up on 20 inch boxes. Whew hew!!
Great having Joel and Nick Anderson at 5am!

I am missing Teri Gulker, Kim McGuirk and Robyn Anderson!!!
And thank you Chuck Taylor for the Handstand Push up Parallets!

Yes, hooah, Mr Taylor. Less jerry-riggin’ when athletes are upside down means turnin’ the safety police alert level to yellow rather than red, and I appreciate that.

    Awesome picture, Melissa!

Enjoyed Friday night so much, Saturday’s Kids open was just as cool, and judging the do-overs on Sunday afternoon was also a sight to see. It’s amazing how much better some of our athletes did the second time around!

That being said, I want to encourage everyone to go out the strongest they possibly can the first time around. WOD like it’s your only chance. Don’t avoid the uncomfortable simply because you know you have a few days left to try again. Give it all you’ve got and test what you’re made of! Then if it turns out you gamed it wrong or slipped up the luxury of trying again is there.

I’m so proud of every single one of our athletes competing this year, from age 3 to 65! Looking forward to an exciting Week 2!

5m (working on butterflies…still can’t get my chin over every time!!)

I agree with Mindy! Friday night was a blast, the kids and teens on Saturday made me emotional, and judging 2 re-dos on Sunday (both PRs) was awesome!!! I can’t wait to see what 13.2 brings us!!! (And now that Nikki can jump on a 20″ box again, I hope we see those soon!)

Was fun hanging with the 5am crew again this morning.

    5(m)

I haven’t worked with some of you in months, and your progress is INSPIRING to see in person. We’ll have to make a more regular thing of this!

6am…time with Bartimus, a second sighting of Josh K AND Nick squared! What!!?? The best part of the morning was watching each of you drill down to ONE thing on which to focus during your 8rounds. That’s what gettin’ better’s all about. And what a sense of humor ya’ll had so early in the AM. You and I were definitely outta the loop this AM, Vickster…and that’s ok. ;)

Carrie…good to hear your wrist’s improving. The time off will have done you well, I’m sure.
