The first five weeks of CrossFit
Experience can explain CrossFit well, but so can inexperience. Carla’s story comes from inexperience and I think that’s what makes it so meaningful.

Five weeks ago I started CrossFit and I was nervous. Why would I be nervous? I have seen the pictures, those workouts look scary.
When I received the opportunity to participate with Practice CrossFit for a 32 day challenge, I decided to give it a try. Walking into the gym for the first time was nerve racking. I knew I would work muscles I haven’t worked in a long time, and WOW, after the first workout my body ached. I knew if I went again the pain would go away, and slowly it would get better and easier.
After five weeks, I can officially say it has gotten easier, even fun.
The fun didn’t begin at first, though. The workouts were intense, and the diet was a struggle. But, the positives outweighed the negatives.
So far, the best moment happened today. As I stared at my feet ready to step on the scale to see my progress, I actually had confidence. Even though I’m an individual who has battled weight all my life, I lost 15 lbs. over the 32 day challenge.
Through Practice CrossFit, I have not only gained in my physical world but also my mental world. I never thought in 32 days I could become a happier, more confident person. Before I would live to eat and I would eat dumb #$@%, but that has changed. I still cheat but I have taken control. I have not begun a diet but a life change and I have begun to take baby steps in the right direction.
At Practice CrossFit, you have a community. Each day, I arrived for a session knowing I would be greeted by my trainers with a smile. On any day, I felt the camaraderie as soon as I walked through the doors, I was welcomed with open arms.
The best part of the workouts is having someone to critique your moves, push you harder and cheer you on. Practice CrossFit is full of encouragement; high fives and fist bumps have never felt so good.
The 32 day challenge has come to a close but I know that my journey with Practice CrossFit has only just begun.
