Why I chose this CrossFit family
There’s something about suffering together and cheering for one another that makes you feel connected. Like family.

As the December challenge came to a close I started thinking about how we all had partners this time. No more solo-events.
I think every day is like that when you belong to a CrossFit box. Every day we feel like someone within those four walls has our back. Even on bad days.
When we first start CrossFit we think “wow, this is pretty cool.” Once the first few weeks of feeling like the new kid passes and we start getting the CrossFit slang down, we start really seeing what a good CrossFit box is – family.
But what is a family?
To me, family means a collection of people, together, fighting the same fight.
When we belong to a CrossFit family it’s just like belonging to the family you were born with. I believe that we are drawn to a certain CrossFit box for some reason we may never know . There is something bigger at work that brings us all to one place.
It’s more than people just wanting to lose weight together in a box.
There is an unspoken bond between family. A bond that defies all things. Just like all families there are members that you may not be as close to or even don’t see eye to eye with, but family does not leave anyone behind.
Being part of a CrossFit family is something very special and shouldn’t be taken for granted. Not all athletes are blessed enough to be able to know what it feels like to truly have an entire CrossFit box in their corner. We can’t take for granted that we belong to group of people that want to see us succeed. That also means we all should not take each other for granted.
Each of us is a vital piece to a landscape that is always evolving.
Families might not always get along, and we all have our bad days. But we are a family of CrossFitters and we don’t call time and walk away, we stay and push the ones beside us…we stay because that’s what a family does.
