Ranch 2012 in review
If success is smiles, thousands upon thousands raised for charity, community building, and fitness demonstrated to those who may not have otherwise know-then the Ranch 2012 was a complete success.
Nearly 70 individual competitors, 200 team competitors, and 100 affiliates joined together Saturday September 15th 2012. They competed for Barbells for boobs. Workouts consisted of; bamboo bar overhead squats, heavy clean and jerks, obstacle courses, trail runs, pond swimming, bears, land-mine thrusters, hatchets and horseshoes and more- culminating in a 20′ rope climb out of a pond. Impressively, everyone was well prepared. CrossFit proves itself yet again.
Many female competitors neared 200 lb ground to overhead…after a trail run obstacle course combo. Some of the men cashed in at 300+, with the average well into the 200′s.
Dad’s competed with daughters and husbands with wives. First time CrossFitter competitors who thought they never could-did. Now they are even more addicted than before. Non-CrossFit spectators saw something they didn’t quite understand, but felt the beating heart which our community.
Testimonials
“Thoroughly enjoyed The Ranch experience – for my first competition to be able to work alongside some truly amazing athletes, at such a well organized event for a great cause. Memorable times.”-Michelle
“Yesterdays event was awesome!! Thank you guys so much for having it. Looking forward to the next one!!!”-Abby
“Amazed with the well oiled machine that was Back at the Ranch 2012. Seriously, climbing a rope up to a crane in the middle of a lake was unbelievably cool! Thanks PCF for a wonderful event.”-Zak
“Almost climbed a wall, jumped over a log that stood almost as tall as me, attempted to swim in a lake, one armed barbell snatches, threw a hatchet and a new PR of 20 max rep pull ups yesterday!! I’d say that’s a fantastic day! Thanks Practice CrossFit for a great event”-Nicole
“I just wanted to say thanks for the opportunity to participate in such an awesome event yesterday. I have only been doing crossfit for about 5 months, but had such an amazing time.”-Brandon
“One word to describe the event, “AMAZING”. So proud to witness it and be a small part.”-Maggie
“Back at the Ranch was amazing! PSKC had a blast!”-Mike
“To say you ran a good competition would be a severe understatement. The amount of planning and creativity that went into yesterday needs to be noted. To operate 50 teams and roughly 80 individuals through that many WODs and heats in an orderly and punctual fashion is amazing. your team of volunteers, judges, helpers, staff is second to none. And no body rocks the mic (when it’s working) quite like you do. Couple that with hatchets, swimming, bamboo bars, logs, walls, barbells, etc etc etc and what I consider to be the largest extended family ever in Practice, AKP, Friendship, Crave, PSKC, Reynoldsburg, No Mercy, etc etc etc…. well hell… it was just an all around amazing day my friend. I’m sorry I had to leave early and didn’t get a chance to tell you to your face how great it was, but this kid needed a severe amount of medicine and sleep to kill this damn chest cold hahaha. Thank you to everyone that was there: athletes, volunteers, vendors, spectators. As a whole you all made this an amazing experience with our family!”-AJ
“Amazing day, great idea moving it up a few weeks this year so we could get some warmer weather and utilize the water! I loved all the swimming, and creativity behind the programming — next year we hope to bring at least 12 teams!! Best part is that you do such a great job of raising money for a good cause. I am so thankful to be a part of this event each year.”-Jeff

Volunteers
Back at the Ranch 2012 was made possible because of our volunteers. For every two athletes, we had one volunteer. That is more than special, and personally I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Several times through the day I looked around teary eyed thanking God for everything he has has given us all through CrossFit. It’s one thing to see people working, it’s another thing to see them working hard for free, for charity.
Sponsors
Please make it a point to contact theses sponsors and thank them for helping with money, equipment, food, or whatever it is they may do.
Final gift
Vendors are settling up as we speak. Almost everything sold out, and from what I hear, the food was awesome. Check back here to see our final total raised will be.
Next year
As far as I can tell, everyone is having a great time working out for charity. That means, we are not stopping. That means next year will be even better. Thank you all.
