“I am the kind of person who”

Sep 04, 2012 16 Comments by

Yesterday, while speaking mostly to strangers, I counted the times, “I am the kind of person who,” began a sentence. Nine. It goes something like this “Well, I am the kind of person who-needs to be told exactly what to do,” or “I am the kind or person who-just can’t give up my evening cocktail.”

While searching for a solution we describe the problem we are unwilling to change.

It would seem as though I met nine different personalities. All using their self-portrait built of characteristics to conceal the very answer they already were aware of. The problem is the “kind of person they are,” preventing the “kind of person they could be.”

Liars put thumb tacks in their shoes to beat polygraphs. Try it. Put one in your shoe, somewhere out of the way that you will not step on it by accident. The next time you decide to say, “I am the kind of person who,” step on it, hard. Do you really think that anyone else cares about who you say your are? Do you really think the attributes you are unwilling to change concern any other human? Humans who will simply chime in with their own story as soon as you are finished talking.

You were not cursed with the inability to stop drinking. Others like doughnuts, and sleeping in on weekends too. I am common, and so are you, common is the greatest gift we have. Anything they can do, you can do, and so can I.

The Olympic gold medal winner, the CrossFit games champion, the award hoarding actress, that’s you. It’s me. It’s everyone. Some people walk around talking about “the kind of person they are,” others know how special and unique they are not. Having the ability to demonstrate our humanity is an action, it’s not a sentence we say to a stranger who hears only what we are unwilling to give up to be great.

15 for eight rounds. Then slowly lost reps until 11. 630 was a good group. Sometimes the only thing that keep you going is everyone else willing to suffer around you.

Wow….one of the most difficult WODs ever….for me.

I picked one RXed rounds….but had to sit out round 13….so 19 RXed rounds which in scoring means 1m….Im taking it as win though….

I had planned to go to 6:30 so I ate my “snack” (Connors bacon–teehee) at 2:30 thinking I was in the clear—but turned out going to 430…turns out my body does not like anything in my tummy before I wod….so that mystery is solved ;) thought I was going to throw up…

All in all….Im taking a win on this wod….even if the score is 1m

Thank you Chas for an awesome class….
And I will say 98 cleans at 95 pounds….yikes!!! lol
