Testimonial: eating to compete

Life is full of inevitability’s. Lift heavy-get strong. Work, a lot-succeed. Eat well-get lean, fast, and competitive. The diets I manufacture for athletes all over are nothing special, the athletes are. Below, Glissel is proof of exactly that. I can honestly say that athletes like Glissel are blessed simply because they follow the plan. The results are not special in anyway, they are inevitable. If your not getting the inevitable results like Glissel, ask yourself “are you really following”?

The following is authored by: Glissel

How I felt and performed on the last team workout in the final day at Regionals was the turning point for making a commitment in my diet.  I remember feeling weak, flat, and had no energy to get through the workout. I felt miserable. I had always considered myself an 80/20 Paleo eater back then. I also never really paid attention to the % of fats/carbs/protein I was eating (or should eat). Then, I was introduced to Josh.

I’ve always struggled with losing weight/leaning out and body weight workouts were my nemesis.  I knew if I wanted to commit to competing in CrossFit, I needed major help. Josh and I started working together early June and it has been an amazing journey.  I never knew that a high fat/low carb diet could work for a CrossFitter!  I’ve lost 6lbs of fat and gained 3.5lbs of muscle in almost 2.5 months.  While those are good aesthetic results, my main gains were my strength #’s and how I performed in my body weight movements (weakness). My strength #’s increased DRAMATICALLY especially with body weight movements like strict HSPU and even a 15lb push press PR.

I just recently competed in a 2 day (3 workouts per day) competition in Miami, FL and was blown away by the way I performed and how I felt.  I followed Josh’s diet template for competition and felt that it helped me tremendously in keeping me energized and strong throughout the day.

Basically, I never felt too tired or too flat to workout. And my nerves no longer took over leaving me unable to eat during competition day — big mistake.

I never knew how important nutrition was for me until I made the commitment to work with Josh and stick with the plan.  It took a lot of patience and dedication to get to where I am (including giving up on Oreos and eating out) and I never knew I could do it; but the ease of making the meals and the $ money I’m saving from eating in every single day is definitely a plus.  I believe that it has helped me become mentally stronger as well! There were great days and there were awful days in the beginning of my diet transition but the urge to want to make the lifestyle change, feel better, look better and become a competitive CrossFitter were worth the fight.  Can’t wait to see the rest of the results as I move forward in my journey.
