Testimonial: 15 days in, 13 lb off
Our nation wide food seminar made a stop at Ctown CrossFit in Cleveland a couple of weeks ago. A very cool CrossFitter named Ed sent me the testimonial below. His story is awesome, as is the timing. Usually, we get testimonials well after the fact, but Ed’s is from the beginning of his journey when most folks find the most difficulty. I also dropped a couple “editors notes”, in italics along the way. Thanks Ed, your helping a lot of people today.
Recently I attended Josh and Chastity’s Paleo “Don’t eat dumb *&&%$” seminar. I have been a CrossFitter for almost 2 1/2 years. I have never really paid to much attention to nutrition, thinking I could eat decent and just work it off. I do 4-5 WOD’s per week. My progress has been steady over the last 2 1/2 years. I wasn’t looking to rival Rich Froning at the age of 42 LOL. I do most of the WOD’s RX which has always been my goal. The HEAVY overhead stuff still gets me a little.
After listening to Josh I decided to give this Paleo thing a try, “cold turkey”. My fiance and I almost panicked as we drove away from the seminar. Is there ANYTHING WE CAN EAT??
We stopped at Longhorn on the way home and had a “naked”(no butter no seasoning) steak and vegetables, (not a yummy as before). HaHa
I am on day #15 and the results have been INCREDIBLE. I have lost 13 lbs from 193 to 180. I can see my abdominal and side muscles creeping out, (that’s cool). The transformation is almost magical, I have progressed more in 15 days than in a YEAR!! (this says a lot because I know that Ed trains with an awesome CrossFit Coach, and it just shows you can’t out work or out coach a bad diet).
I have found every CrossFit movement easier since I lost so much human (Ed totally said “human” on his own, awesome). The typical progress is generally so incremental it is hard to tell, when you loose this much so fast, YOU CAN TELL. I even did Diane (DL & HSPU) RX for the first time the other day.
The added benefits include a much better energy level, I use to crash predictably at 9 am and 3 pm. I literally felt like I needed a nap. This is TOTALLY GONE!!
I have also started skipping breakfast, I just don’t seem to be hungry until lunch. This has been very helpful, I pick up an hour each day, and I don’t miss it a bit. I eat like a hog for lunch and dinner of course. I don’t measure anything (yet) and I just eat and eat and eat. I also do very little grazing between meals. That is another relief.
We have kept our meal basic, meat and vegetables. That has been the easiest way for us to get started. We picked up a Paleo cookbook and have future plans to make more elaborate meals. We are about 98% strict, I occasionally eat a grape or two(I also love that Ed knows, fruit is cheating, awesome).
Several people have witnessed my progress and heard my story, currently over a dozen people in our box have decided to take the 25 day challenge. I am glad to be an influence in so many peoples lives.
I must say THANK YOU, to Josh and Chastity for coming out and sharing this awesome info. I am a Paleo fan and I love this lifestyle.

Great job training back rack jerk tonight…but we’ve gotta get you to forget you’re so strong so you can drop under an even bigger bar! Ha! Although pressing 245 is impressive too.
And Sam-I-Am….thank you for remaining uninjured. I SO worried about you, me and handstand walks at 530. Safety police!
