Focus, fight, and forge ahead with Cindy: WOD fun
CrossFit followers would be few and far between this very day if it weren’t for the sheer enjoyment we all get from CrossFitting. In a quasi-masochistic way, we do this for the fun of it. Cindy reminds us, as she often does, that a little more WOD fun never hurt anybody. Especially if your guilty of making CrossFit your job instead of your playtime.
Remember when you were young and it was summer. You were surrounded by your friends running around outside. You were running around so fast that you thought, holy crap I’m going so fast my legs are gonna fall off! You didn’t care what you looked like when you were running, you didn’t care about what you were wearing. You were just having the most fun. Then you grew up.
When was the last time you walked on the WOD floor and just had fun?
You weren’t worrying about your time or thinking “oh let me get through this so I can go about my day”…and you weren’t caught up in; hope this gets me into my skinny jeans…you just HAD FUN!
When was the last time you actually took the time to soak up everything around you on the WOD floor. Trainers, fellow CrossFitters, yourself?
We all get pissed off every once and while when we feel like we could have been better that’s okay, it happens not every WOD is going be your best WOD. But I think that we forget to have fun because we get stuck in the thought of “what is this going to do for me?”
Yes, we all have goals within CrossFit. Be it health, The Games, lose weight. But where is the goal that ensures CrossFit remains a permanent lifestyle, not a passing destination. Do you ever set the goal for yourself to have fun? To have fun while you are working on all those other goals.
That is why CrossFit appeals to so many people…it is always different. It is always fresh & sexy. CrossFit is fun.
That’s also why we had so much fun running around with our friends when we were young. Before we grew up, we didn’t listen to that voice saying “slow down,” all we heard was “FASTER! FASTER! FASTER!”
When I step foot into my CrossFit Box I am me. I am not just a Wife, I am not just a Mom, I am not just a friend…I am me. And it is within that hour that I am allowed to just have fun. And it is in that hour doing CrossFit and having fun that makes me a better wife…a better Mom…and am better friend.
CrossFit won’t do anything for you if you aren’t doing the work on and off the WOD floor, but when was the last time you realized that your hard work within CrossFit is fun?
I can’t tell you how many squats I did yesterday but I can give you about five one liners that I heard in my class that made me laugh out loud. I can tell you I had fun, and everyone else did too.
Its not a secret anymore; CrossFit, good for the soul, good for your ass.

My impression is that whoever created that workout has a sick sense of humor.
Agreed!
If there wasn’t a time cap- I would still be there…having done the workout frontwards and backwards still not getting 55 unbroken double unders!! Ok…. So maybe that’s a big hint to what I need to work on!!
I liked it…but it sucked!! Managed to do 55 double unders, but not unbroken!!! UGH!!!
164(m) reps
14:31 m with wt at 53#; 1st time C2B!
Way to go Jen!!!!!!
shout to Patrick for doing 55 unbroken DU’s in noon class! holla! good job Stacy and Dustin on DU work!
way to go Jen on C2B!
McCormick…you were on fire today too!
174reps for me..messed up on DU’s
I don’t know about fire since I had about a 90 sec lead on you Kara on C2B and you caught me!! and I had some questionable pistols and snatches (per Darrin and Ry – thx for calling me out) but…I finished on my 1st attempt: 12:21
Cindy – don’t get to work out w/ you much, but your post has always been my motto. Make it fun or don’t do it…what’s the point of being miserable! Hopefully we’ll get to work out together sometime…clearly you would enjoy a mid-workout McCormick booty shake
187 reps (lots of “m”:43# snatches, 53# for rest, a little help with pistols, and about 5 chest to bar…the rest regular)
13:10 m du were not unbroken
