IMG_8020 Traveling Burpees…

“The heroic cannot be common, nor the common heroic.”

“Are You Afraid Of The Deep End?”

A gathering of people is a crowd. A group of people who care for each other and give up “self” is a community. Did you ever wonder at what point a congregation becomes a cult?

Anyways, a while back none of us “Cheated On Cindy”. After the show was over, Cindy called together all those lucky folks who found success remaining Paleotastic for 40+ days. Every week Cindy meets with a group of CFers finding their path in the community. I asked Cindy to describe the value of these weekly accountability meetings so that we all may learn the value first hand.

You took the first step…you came into Practice CrossFit. Then you took the next step…eating a clean Paleo Diet. So, what do you do now? That is the question I asked myself after realizing that I was going to need support to help me not only stay on the path but continue moving forward.

I am a firm believer that 80% of what we do in CrossFit is affected by our diets…and the food that we put into our bodies. But I also am a firm believer that for a lot of people out there; myself included…90% of eating is mental. And if I was going to set myself up to be successful instead of setting myself up to fail, I was going to need to surround myself with people I trusted, respected, valued, and that I knew was not scared to tell the truth. Just like in a WOD a Trainer looks at you and calls a “No Rep” when they see you aren’t doing what you are supposed to be doing…I needed people that were honest enough to throw the BS flag when I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to be doing.

As a woman that has dealt with turning to food for all the wrongs reasons my entire life and finally getting to the point where I did see food as fuel…I wanted to stay there…I needed to stay there. And what better way to set up myself (and others) for success then to rely on the people that are going through the same journey I was. To be able to talk with women that all are going through their daily life and trying their best to do what is best for them. We are all at different points within the journey but that is the beauty of it…because we can all relate and help each other.

I started asking around and it seemed other women also wanted and needed a set time for us to get together and look at the entire picture…CrossFit for Life not just for our bodies for our entire lifestyle. So, “Thursdays with Cindy” started. We joked that just like “Tuesdays with Morrie” the Ladies of Practice CrossFit needed a weekly gathering where we all could continue our own journeys but also help keep each other accountable for our own goals.

We share…we laugh…we cry…we vent…we ask questions…we get answers…but most of all we help each other stay accountable to ourselves. I believe the strongest thing a person can do is look at someone and say, “I am going to need help.” And being able to sit in a room surrounded by women that I know can help me is one of the best tools for success I could ever ask for. As a CrossFit woman, I am strong…and as part of Practice CrossFit Thursday Night Ladies Group I am unstoppable

Sorry – didn’t have time to complete all of the auxiliary work, but I’ll be back in to finish it up. It made me realize how much I really need to work on… core strength is weak for me and it is fundamental to everything!

I have to say, I was nervous that I would not do justice with my words–about how great our Thursday Night groups are…I just wanted to make the Ladies proud…
Each Thursday we all set goals for the coming week…it might be a goal for a movement…or for something to do within our careers…families…our personal growth…ect…
Well, this week my goal was to get my damn toes to the bar…so I told the Ladies that come hell or high water I would…and tonight I DID!!! First got them through the rings and then hit the bar twice…with BOTH feet!!!
So, I can’t even explain how much this group has helped me…with all the help of trainers that got me here and the support of the Ladies…Im Winning!!!!! ;)

    8:44 (m) – sit-ups instead of Pull-ups
I like that auxiliary work is mandatory but I was thinking the same thing Sammy. I need more practice on a L-hold.
Cindy, that’s the thought I was having when you came up to me and said you got toes-to-rings :( I was very excited for you, I was just having that slow transition time from…I suck at this…to OMGoodness Cindy that’s awesome. :) Love you

  18. Dana says:

9:30 (m) for only doing 15 pull-ups per round. I did get both kb swings and both squats unbroken, but couldn’t quite get the double unders unbroken
I rocked the auxiliary work, though! Extra band for the leg curls and honest-to-goodness L-sit!! Felt good!

  19. Min says:

10:45 (m) worked on butterfly pull ups
Cindy- so proud to see you hit that milestone :)
Dana- you rock at L-sits… u put the boys to shame!!!
    Fun night at the box!

  20. Stacy says:
